Jet-setter

I've been away and it's been fun. I visited Harvest House Publishers (one of my publishing 'families') in Eugene, Oregon last week and then I went to Seaside, a small beach community near Portland to speak at the Oregon Medical Group Management Association's spring convention. Both experiences were wonderful. I saw beautiful parts of the state and met so many exceptional people. I feel blessed to be able to share my communication talent with others and to see lives changed, including my own.

Sweet William

William Zinsser, I love you, and I don't care who knows it. Your latest book, WRITING ABOUT YOUR LIFE, is wonderful. I have so enjoyed your unique way of entertaining and instructing. I'm learning–without pain! Every chapter is a delight. Thank you! I've been a fan and friend of your writing for the past twenty years even though you and I have never met.

Reflections

I gave myself a birthday present–a three-day silent retreat. I came home last night refreshed and renewed. I was surprised at how deeply satisfying it was. I read Brother Lawrence's Practicing the Presence of God while there and spent time in the Psalms and in the book of James and in my journal. There is nothing like a quiet space in a lovely setting with trees, flowers, rock gardens, grottos and trails to bring me down to where I want and ought to be! Simple and free...

I'm going to make this a semi-annual affair. I'm already looking forward to the next one in November. The Springs sponsored by NEWIM (Network of Evangelical Women in Ministry).

I'm filled up and very grateful.
