Absence and Fond Hearts
What is that old cliche? "Absence makes the heart grow fonder." Not necessarily. I think being together creates fondness––for the real person, instead of for the fantasy one carries in one's mind when you're apart. That's the case with my husband, my children, my grandchildren, my friends. I like their 'presence,' not their absence. No wonder I am looking forward to spending time with all of them during Thanksgiving week and during the first week in December. I am thankful this season for togetherness.
